Kevin & Val Go To...Disneyland Dapper Days Part 1, April 2022. Westin Hotel Tour, DCA, and Dapper Day Expo.

It's Spring 2022 Dapper Days at Disneyland. A celebration of getting dressed up and showing off your style, whatever it may be. Ok, mostly retro and Disney-inspired. In part 1, we have a room tour of the Westin Anaheim, a (very) quick Friday visit to Disneyland, some Saturday DCA fun, and then finish off Saturday at the Dapper Day Expo. Come back for day 2 to see some more Disneyland, as well as more expo fun including dancing and live music. Enjoy!

Magic Mountain Mondays #35: A View From Sky Tower 3

Turning to face the other direction, here’s a view of the preferred wooden coaster, Colossus. Also of note, you can see the roof of the TDK Showcase Theater in the bottom left and the BFT bottom right.

In August of 1995, I took a bunch of photos (on film no less) at Six Flags Magic Mountain using an inexpensive camera. I was working as an Operations supervisor at the time, and the purpose of the project was to create a slide show for an employee appreciation party for our Operations staff. I’ve carted these slides around for over 25 years and I finally had them digitally transferred this year. About 2/3s of them aren’t available for posting because they are crew pictures and I have no way to request permission to post them. But I do have 50+ available that are just various shots of the park. Enjoy this time capsule from August 1995.

Magic Mountain Mondays #34: A View From Sky Tower 2

As long as you’re up here on Ninja hill, why not head up Sky Tower for some views from on high? Here’s a glance at Psyclone, that never-loved 90s woodie. Huh, it doesn’t look so painful from up here.

Magic Mountain Mondays #33: Ninja

Here it is, the entrance to Ninja. Opened in 1988, Ninja is an Arrow suspended coaster. On the plus side, Ninja is still open. On the negative side, a lot of what made Ninja great - the banked turns through the trees - has largely been eliminated.

Oh, and check out the early YouTube influencer in the bottom right with the shoulder-mounted RCA VHS recorder. I’d love to see his footage.

Magic Mountain Mondays #32: Orient Express 2

Congratulations on making it to the top of Ninja hill. Ninja is behind you and Sky Tower is next to that. Enjoy!
