Magic Mountain Mondays #34: A View From Sky Tower 2

As long as you’re up here on Ninja hill, why not head up Sky Tower for some views from on high? Here’s a glance at Psyclone, that never-loved 90s woodie. Huh, it doesn’t look so painful from up here.

In August of 1995, I took a bunch of photos (on film no less) at Six Flags Magic Mountain using an inexpensive camera. I was working as an Operations supervisor at the time, and the purpose of the project was to create a slide show for an employee appreciation party for our Operations staff. I’ve carted these slides around for over 25 years and I finally had them digitally transferred this year. About 2/3s of them aren’t available for posting because they are crew pictures and I have no way to request permission to post them. But I do have 50+ available that are just various shots of the park. Enjoy this time capsule from August 1995.

Early 90s Magic Mountain’s Psyclone. Unpopular ride for sure. Here’s a random shot from mid-ride, circa 1995.

Let’s do a short series (maybe 2 more photos) of Psyclone photos. Almost universally hated, I had a soft spot for this Coney Island knock-off. I would safety ride for the crew, because honestly no one wanted to ride it. And it bears this distinction: I was called once when it went 10-7, 10-35 due to a valley and as I arrived at the ride, the train was still settling into a stopping point. Any other valley I responded to was already settled when I arrived (I see you Ninja). Good times.
