A few weeks ago, when Hurriquake Hilary descended, we were at DCA. Based on our attire, someone asked if we'd be at Tikiland Day, which was upcoming. As luck would have it, we already had Disneyland reservations. So we donned some dapper tiki gear and headed to Anaheim. It was nice to see some of our friends from the "tiki" realm, some of which we hadn't seen since pre-COVID. We couldn't stay all day, but hopefully this gives you a taste of the event. Kudos to Tikiland Trading Co. for their organization...it was easy to jump in and enjoy. See you next time!
Thank you Jeff Berry, Thank you Shipwrecked.
In my haste to post a couple of cocktails on the birthday of one Donn Beach, I neglected to add in some photos that are arguably more important. At the most recent Shipwrecked event at The Warehouse in Marina del Rey, California, the Shipwrecked crew brought out Jeff “Beachbum” Berry. Without the Bum, none of this tiki cocktail revival happens. Full stop. Jeff led us in a toast to Donn on his birthday, February 22. It’s always an honor to be in the same room as Mr. Berry (you can see my endless adoration over on 5 Minutes of Rum).
Okole Maluna!
Oh, and this is a swell group of people, every single one of which is incredibly creative and talented (not including myself).
The best of the rest from Tiki Oasis 19
TikiVal provided me with some more photos from Tiki Oasis 19 - a lot of fun ones in fact. A sample here and more my Tiki Oasis 19 album on Flickr.
A few more from Tiki Oasis 19
A handful of remaining photos from Tiki Oasis 19. Overall I spent less time on my phone and hence less photos. A few more on Flickr.
Friday at Tiki Oasis 19
A small sampling of Friday, August 9th, 2019, at Tiki Oasis 19. The Insect Surfers, The Surfrajettes, Jon and the Nightriders, and of course some Moai. More on Flickr.
