A few weeks ago, when Hurriquake Hilary descended, we were at DCA. Based on our attire, someone asked if we'd be at Tikiland Day, which was upcoming. As luck would have it, we already had Disneyland reservations. So we donned some dapper tiki gear and headed to Anaheim. It was nice to see some of our friends from the "tiki" realm, some of which we hadn't seen since pre-COVID. We couldn't stay all day, but hopefully this gives you a taste of the event. Kudos to Tikiland Trading Co. for their organization...it was easy to jump in and enjoy. See you next time!
World's Worst POV of Arctic Rescue at SeaWorld San Diego - September 3, 2023.
Footage: GoPro Hero 9, 4k. Arctic Rescue is the new-for-2023 Intamin Family Launch Coaster. It opened 6/2/23 and we took a ride on 9/3/23. While it was eventually a full ride complete ride, the coaster did set up at the start of the 3rd launch. We sat for about 9 minutes while the ride mechanics responded and got us past the 3rd launch. Disappointingly, once we got back to the station we were unloaded as though nothing happened - no acknowledgement from the staff, no apologies for the inconvenience, and no offer to come back and ride again later when the ride re-opened. In my day, that's not how it was done.
Magic Mountain Mondays #47: Rev "panel"
Taking a full panel away from operators was not the best decision.
In August of 1995, I took a bunch of photos (on film no less) at Six Flags Magic Mountain using an inexpensive camera. I was working as an Operations supervisor at the time, and the purpose of the project was to create a slide show for an employee appreciation party for our Operations staff. I’ve carted these slides around for over 25 years and I finally had them digitally transferred this year. About 2/3s of them aren’t available for posting because they are crew pictures and I have no way to request permission to post them. But I do have 50+ available that are just various shots of the park. Enjoy this time capsule from August 1995.
A walk inside Trader Vic's Atlanta, August 2023.
At the end of our SE Coaster Trip in August 2023, we spent a weekend in Atlanta. In addition to visiting SFOG, linked below, we also visited the aquarium, the Coca-Cola museum (videos coming soon), and Trader Vic's Atlanta, located downstairs at the Midtown Atlanta Hilton. It's the only remaining US location located in a hotel, and one of only 3 US locations remaining period. It's a great time capsule, and still a very enjoyable evening. Take a look!
Six Flags Over Georgia - our first time! Let's ride some coasters and complain about the heat!
Here it is, the last official theme park stop on our 2023 SE Coaster Tour. We can now cross Six Flags Over Georgia off of our "to visit" list EXCEPT we need to go back. First, Monster Mansion was closed so right there we need to go back. And while we rode the top coasters on our list, we didn't ride them all, because Hotlanta was living up to its name. So it goes. Come along for a short tour of some of SFOG's coasters, and laugh at the old people overheating. Enjoy!
