Surf City Half Marathon

Our first race of 2020 is in the books. Val and I joined my sister to run the Surf City Half Marathon in Huntington Beach on February 2, 2020. The course was a mostly flat, mostly out and back route along PCH. The weather was pretty much as good as you may want for a road race. The fact that I hadn’t run more than 9 miles since early November 2019 was evident right around 10.5 miles as calf cramps set in. Outside of that, it was a fun race and motivating for both the Great Race of Agoura Hills in late March (10k) and RunDisney’s Star Wars race weekend in April 2020 (5k, 10k, and Half). Got a cool medal and a few beers over the course of the day as a reward.

Reward evening. Not pictured: nachos.

Jurassic 10k

Tough but fun 10k. Universal Hollywood is not built on flat land and the course reflects that fact. Medals and donuts achieved.

2019 Disney Wine & Dine 5k: done

No drenching thunderstorms, even. This one was done on about 2.5 hours of sleep due to attending the Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom the night before. The 5k was promptly followed by a 3 hour “nap”.

Running Universal.

Universal has stepped in to (partially) fill the void created when RunDisney elected to stop holding events in Southern California. Congratulations to myself on finishing that 5k on a Sunday morning. Now I’ll proceed to negate it all via donuts and coffee.
